About
Maraya started Freedom Rooted Fitness to empower BIPOC women to find their space in the fitness world and build a supportive community. Most of the friendships and connections that have shaped her own health and well-being have come through the fitness community. Being surrounded by encouraging, like-minded women has helped her become stronger, healthier, and more confident, and she wanted to create that same opportunity for other women to move, grow, and thrive together in a space where they feel seen, supported, and celebrated.
Maraya began her fitness journey in 2021 with something as simple as walking. Living in rainy Seattle, she joined a gym to keep moving indoors, and what started as a way to stay active quickly turned into a passion when she discovered weight lifting. Though she was initially intimidated by the machines and equipment, she built confidence, learned to lift weights, and fell in love with the process of getting stronger physically and mentally.
Fitness and nutrition completely transformed her life, and now she’s dedicated to helping others experience that same freedom. As a 2023 graduate of Washington State University with a B.A. in Human Development, Maraya combines her understanding of wellness with her certifications through NASM and Silver&Fit to create a well-rounded, personalized approach to training. Since becoming a trainer in 2023, she’s worked with clients of all ages and fitness levels, helping them find movement that feels good and sustainable.
Maraya specializes in women-centered fitness and promotes joy in training, believing that when exercise is fun and empowering, consistency naturally follows. Her goal is to create an encouraging, inclusive space where women not only build strength but also confidence, community, and joy in the process.
